Termites throbbing in the Den

Was it the kindle or the Flame?

Is it all just a game

Was it the Dancer or the Drums

Tribal war-dance or

A hum

 to a chorus

of a song

Was it the rhythm or the limbs

Epileptic in a trance

I am held. I am transfixed-

The Sphinx on the Tombs

Was it you?

What did you do?

Did you snuffle it out-

 the naked flame

but it still burns-

Deep inside

Eternally.
