The Devil's Bargain

I made friends with the devil

And loved hating him

For his want for friendship

And my love for company

We made a bargain

That was to last nine months

The knowledge of which

I was never to tell.

I told him my secrets

And he loved me in turn

As much as a devil can.

At length he used my secrets

And blackmailed my trust

And within my heart

A hatred grew

That after the nine months

I had become the devil

And him a better man

They say I am washed out

Inside out without a bout of gout

My eyes are gouged out poked out of their sockets

And plugged inside out

In the inside of my snow-white skull

Rolling about in their sockets in the dark

My nails stab the inside of my sinewy flesh

Like shrapnel or hardened constipation

In my nether place

My boys are trapped in a pelvic prison

Fleshy blood red curtains draped over the walls

Blotting out the sun the breeze the agony

Of looking inside out and not liking what I see

Unaccustomed to the view of my exoskeletal frame

My brain matter sensitive to the breeze

My very essence slipping off

Like a melting mask

Washed away

Stripped from me

They say

Rigor Mortis

I am afraid of the dark

Escape

And the ghastly cloud bellowed

At a distance, heave ho!

Heave ho! He rushed across the sky

Like a falling star

Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Murder in his eye

And the birds dropped

Like stones to the trees

They hid among the snakes

And bones of his enemies

Picked clean, bleached white

Staring at a distance

Caught

They were caught
