The Great Soul, Mahatma Gandhi once broke down what normally causes violence:
“The Roots of Violence: Wealth without work, Pleasure without conscience, Knowledge without character, Commerce without morality, Science without humanity, Worship without sacrifice, Politics without principles” That said, I do not feel inclined to comment further. When Mahatma speaks, it is only polite to nod ones head and act as smart as he was.
Taking the clinical case of Uganda, East Africa: Wealth without work = Members of Parliament, President Museveni’s relations and close circle of friends, Corrupt Civil Servants, et al
To borrow once more the inspired words: Pleasure without conscience, knowledge without character, commerce without morality, worship without sacrifice and especially POLITICS WITHOUT PRINCIPLES, and with that damns the entire Uganda government, civil servants and business associates, not forgetting the few individuals who hail from a particular geographical region in Uganda.
It’s no wonder to hear stories of sit-down strikes by teachers, doctors, lecturers, students, taxi drivers and traders to name a few.
Tribal sentiments aside, I would like to make a suggestion- why not hire a president to run our beloved long abused country? Take a second and think about it…
The government would be a business, geared towards self-sustenance and provision of quality amenities that Ugandans have been waiting for as anxiously as a bride on her honeymoon would: Free quality education, social insurance, a good transport network, planned structures, nature parks in the city, and so on and so forth.
The president would of course do it for a pay and however much, it would still be more acceptable than the hapless government officials driving $ 150,000 cars to their storied homes in Kololo as the rest of the population goes to Banda and Kisenyi slums to heat up leftovers.
THINK ABOUT IT!
